Creating high quality video

Video is one of the fastest-moving frontiers in AI right now. Just a year ago, most AI-generated video looked more like a rough animation than something you would actually use in marketing or storytelling. Today, the outputs are not only usable but in many cases compelling enough for ads, product launches, or social content. The best part: you can now create high-quality clips with just a prompt.

The Landscape of Video Models
There are a number of new video models emerging, each with different strengths. Two that stand out right now are VEO 3 and Kling. Both can generate a few seconds of video that feel polished and professional, but they come with different tradeoffs.

The biggest limitation in most video models today is character consistency. Because these tools can only generate short snippets of video, it is difficult to maintain the same look across multiple clips or scenes. If you ask a model to create a person walking, the face or body might subtly shift from one moment to the next. That is fine if all you need is a background clip or something abstract, but it becomes a real challenge if your video depends on a recurring character or product that needs to stay consistent throughout.

When to Use VEO 3

If your goal is to quickly generate eye-catching video and you do not have strict requirements around a specific character or product, VEO 3 by Google is your best option. It excels at general prompts, like “a drone flying over mountains at sunrise” or “a wave crashing on a beach.” The clips it produces are short, sharp, and aesthetically pleasing — perfect for social media, digital ads, or blog visuals. You can even add sound to it.

However, VEO 3 currently doesn't offer support for character inputs, so if you have a specific scene (or product) you want to bring to life, it's not great.

When to Use Kling v2.1 (via fal.ai)

If you need more control, especially around characters or recurring elements, Kling is the stronger choice. Kling has been designed to take an image input and use that to bring it to life. You still are only able to generate short clips, but you can create multiple new videos with input images that lead from one scene to the next.

Kling is typically access via an API but fal.ai is a site that allows us to access this model (among others on their platform). We will use Kling v2.1 and share an initial image with it.

Take an example of these two bears (we used ChatGPT to create an initial image).

We will now request the model to create a video of the bears jumping up and down celebrating happily together.

The model then returns a video. It's amazing quality and very specific to both the image and the prompt we feed it.

Downsides

It's important to note that Kling v2.1 is expensive to use and can take time to generate. A 5 second video can take up to 6 minutes to create and cost $1.40.

Why This Matters for Marketers and Creators

High-quality video has always been expensive and resource-intensive. You used to need cameras, lighting, actors, editors, and often an entire production cycle just to bring a single concept to life. With models like VEO 3 and Kling, the real breakthrough is not just speed — it is creative freedom. You can explore bold concepts, visualize ideas that would have been impossible to stage, and bring fresh styles to life without traditional limits. Instead of asking what can we afford to produce, you can now ask what can we imagine?

Where This Is Heading

The pace of progress is remarkable. Each month we see improvements in realism, character consistency, and length of generation. Soon, models will be able to handle more advanced tasks like precise product placement, multi-scene storytelling, and longer clips that look seamless. The gap between “short, experimental clips” and “production-ready video” is closing fast.
